The Chessmobile was constructed in 2006 near Moulton, Texas. The vehicle runs on ultra quiet electric hub motors which can be recharged by solar or wind energy. The Chessmobile is used for parades and exhibitions only.

The vehicle has a sound system which is easily heard because the vehicle makes no noise. It currently plays "Sousa Marches" while promoting Redbird Chess.
The vehicle has a light system for night parades or (Christmas Events).
The vehicle has two independent braking systems on the rear wheels and a separate brake on the front wheel. Either driver can apply the brakes. If the driver leaves the seat the motors cut off.
I strongly suspect you will be seeing cars running on hub motors in the future. Hub motors are more efficient since they do not require transmissions and drivetrains.
